Explains the types and properties of ceramics.
Although there are many types of ceramics, we briefly summarized the names and their characteristics of some typical ceramics that are commonly used in industry. Please see the link below for details of each material. (Page in preparation is grayed out.)

Alumina
Aluminium oxide (Al2O3). The most commonly used representative ceramics.

Zirconia
Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2). Zirconia has the highest strength and toughness.

Aluminium nitride
AlN. Thermal conductivity is high. It is used as a package material of semiconductor parts for which heat dissipation is required.

Silicon carbide
SiC. It does not exist naturally. High temperature strength, light weight, high corrosion resistance, excellent heat resistance material.

Silicon nitride
Si3N4. High temperature toughness, excellent thermal shock resistance, light weight and high corrosion resistance.

Forsterite
(2MgO・SiO2). The microwave loss is small and the insulation property at high temperature is excellent. Application: Electrical and electronic parts.

Steatite
Its electrical and mechanical properties are better than ordinary porcelain, and its machinability is also good.

Cordierite
In particular, the thermal expansion resistance is excellent because of low thermal expansion.

SiAlON
Excellent heat resistance, thermal shock resistance, wear resistance, etc.

Machinable ceramics
A machinable ceramic that is easily machined and contains mica etc.

Barium titanate
(BaTiO3) Excellent at high levels of dielectric constant and the ability to store electricity. Used for capacitor parts.

PZT
It is a voltage material that has the function of vibrating when an electrical signal is applied, and converting it into an electrical signal.

Ferrite
Ceramic magnetic body (magnet). High permeability, high electrical resistance and wear resistance.

Mullite
Excellent heat resistance and thermal shock resistance, especially creep resistance.
